X Ray of Feelings created for Little Troopers by Lorna Stannard
Ever felt like there’s a knot in your tummy when you have to face a new situation? Or that your heart feels so full it might pop? Using state of the art technology, I have used my ‘X Ray of Feelings’ illustration machine to reveal feelings and thoughts in new situations.

Originally part of my children’s book proposal, I worked with Little Troopers to create 5 illustrations to help military children in common military life situations…
- Moving house
- Starting a new school
- Parent going away
- Parent coming home
- Making friends
Each one imagined and illustrated to help children to understand their feelings in a new situation. Each downloadable PDF also contains an activity sheet that has been created by an educational psychologist.
The PDF’s are free to download (once registered for free) aimed at military children but open to all.
Little Troopers X Ray of Feelings
Little Troopers says
“The X-Ray of Feelings resources are a series of five beautifully illustrated pictures showing an X-Ray of a child’s body which uncovers some of the thoughts and feelings they might be experiencing when facing some military life situations such as ‘my stomach feels like a stormy sea’, ‘my brain is full of questions’, ‘my heart feels loud’, ‘I have jelly knees’, ‘my head hurts because I miss mummy / daddy so much’.
Each illustration is accompanied by an activity sheet that has been created by an educational psychologist.
Parents, guardians or teachers can download the relevant scenario, talk through the illustration with the child and work through the activities; encouraging them to talk about and better understand how they are feeling.”
Big Thanks to Louise at Little Troopers for all the amazing work you do to help our military children.
